The Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor v1.2 is designed to measure the moisture level in soil using capacitive sensing technology. It provides an analog voltage output proportional to soil moisture and works easily with boards such as Arduino Uno R3, Arduino Nano, and ESP32 Development Board.
The Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor measures soil moisture levels using capacitive sensing instead of direct electrical conduction. This design prevents corrosion of the sensor probe and significantly increases its lifespan compared to traditional resistive soil moisture sensors.
When inserted into the soil, the sensor detects changes in capacitance caused by the water content in the soil. The module then converts this change into an analog voltage output, which can be read by a microcontroller’s analog input pin.
Because of its durability and accuracy, this sensor is commonly used in automatic irrigation systems, smart agriculture projects, greenhouse monitoring systems, and plant watering automation.
